Cabelas has the Garmin Fenix 5 [cabelas.com] in Slate Grey for $364.97 (OOS) or the Fenix 5s [cabelas.com] (Backorderable) for the same price. Use code FREESHIP for free shipping.

Note: The website is a bit confusing as it is not clearly noted which is the 5, 5s, 5x and sapphire models. To tell the 5 vs 5s you have to look at the diameter.
If you purchase something through a post on our site, Slickdeals may get a small share of the sale.

You'll want to just search "Garmin fenix 5" and look at the watch options because as OP says they don't label the 5 vs 5X vs 5S.
Here's true 5S

Also I bought my fenix 5s from them about 6 months ago and I used cabelas gift cards I bought for 20% off. It'll be impossible to duplicate that deal now since those are snail mailed gift cards but you may be able to use some Raise purchased gift cards at 15% off. Be careful though as I think you can only use three gift cards when checking out online. You can use more in stores and they'll honor their online prices in store. My fenix 5s rang up $50+ in store compared to online when I purchased 6 months ago but I showed them the site and the adjusted the price.

Not a single Cabela's anywhere in my state (California), so feeling a little wary about the same. I'm staring at the order confirm page and just about ready to pull the trigger, but debating waiting to see if prices drop further from other retailers close by. I'm guessing/hoping Garmin's manufacturer-enforced no-discounts policy is up on them as they are now an "old" model?

I guess if I'm being honest with myself, my fenix 3 probably has years still left on it. It has taken me through a dozen ultras, accidentally did a dip 100+ feet underwater (forgot to switch to my freediving watch and only noticed when I didn't hear the expected beeping), survived a few nights at sub-zero temps and many days above 110. Despite some finish rubbing off on the bezel, a few chargers going dead, and battery life deteriorating slightly, it's still in great condition. I feel like one of those sentimental old people who can't get rid of old cars. It has treated me so well........

5X looks to be on sale at $429 + tax.

Am I missing something or is this the best price the 5X has been?

I think that is correct. Crazy hot deal. I got my 5x for $450 on eBay when they had the 20% off coupon and that was the best price I'd seen by far. That said, there is now a new model 5plus series and adds maps and music to all models, but you'll pay a hefty premium. I've been very happy with the watch and a hrm-run strap for lots of road and trail running. The maps really are nice to have, but not a necessity.

Been staring at the same, but on phone as Cabela's is blocked as work due to being in the "Weapons" category. Frantically reading and re-reading to see if it's a refurb or something, but looks to be legit. Hmmmmmm....

Tempted to pull the trigger but the lack of free return shipping plus the closest store being 90 miles away makes me weary.

Some cashback sites are offering 7% too

Eh, pulled the trigger.

I tried checking to see if Backcountry would price match (they're great about that). The below was from my chat. For what it's worth and much to their credit, she did also offer to throw in some store credit to make up the difference between what they could match to versus Cabela's price.

I apologize. It looks like this item would go under cost if we were to price match it.

I ended up thanking her but opting to just order from Cabela's as I don't want them to take an overall loss on my purchase.

Any ideas on what's driving that dive? Are these watches not very reliable? Other factors?
