I read it as Crestron and thought that product would only appeal to a few then I realized it was even more targeted to a telescope brand.

I also thought this at first said Crestron and my first thought was "garbage". Than I realized it was something completely different. Should have known better then to expect Crestron to have any gear under $500, lol.

I own this for my 6SE and it's great. It comes with a dumbed down version of Sky Safari and it works. After you have it, I recommend buying Sky Safari Plus for the best experience.

This can usually be had for around $85 at B&H as well.

In what way is the bundled app dumbed down? Just fewer objects in the database or what?
I recently acquired a 6SE I've only used 4-5 times.

The Celestron 127SLT is a good scope for $399 on sale Walmart/Amazon.

I got a nice deal on a 6SE by waiting for an eBay coupon and getting it from Adorama via eBay - they are an authorized reseller.

Also good used gear on Craigslist, eBay, Cloudynights' Classifieds, and Astromart.

True, and hopefully with many attachments.
I figure, I'd start with my Panasonic 60x camera, with an extra cheap Chinese modified zooming lens attached to it, or anything cheap that can be rigged on.
Then get me a CL telescope, that does, or can cheaply be made to follow the stars.
Then a $2000 telescope...off of CL, with attachments.
Then friend some people who own property in Joshua Tree area, and build a mini observatory there, with some help from some amateur astronomers, who will get to share the dome.
Seems like a good hobby for everybody. Start little, just don't go crazy with the attachment prices!

BTW: Mars Bitches!
I'ts close, but it will be at it's closest approach, since 2003, on July 31. It comes out about midnight. It's the only giant red dot in the sky! It has surpassed Zeus himself (Jupiter) in magnitude of brightness, and is getting closer.

MARS MARS MARS MARS! Sorry caps.

I saw that the NexStar 6se was as low as $499 on Amazon in the last 6 months from camelcamelcamel. I'm hoping (but not holding my breath) that it goes on sale again during Prime Day.
