I bought this without thinking since I've been waiting so long to catch a deal on this receiver.

frys has been running the 4400 for $898 off and on for awhile. The 3500 and 4500 should be out in about two months hopefully driving the price of these down further....That being said, $599 and a$50 gift card is a pretty damn good deal if you don't want to play the waiting game..

Tempted...I have to upgrade from my x2100 that doesn't support 4K passthrough. This was going for $497 at Frys about two months ago. I think I will wait for it to come back there as I have to burn a few Frys gift cards otherwise I would have jumped on it.

New features won't be relevant for a while. This thing is a beast. While not the slickest price. Good enough. Buy and don't look back. You'll be beyond happy you did.

Unfortunately for me, that Fry's deal is in-store only and I don't live anywhere near a Fry's.

Lately I've been looking at the new Onkyo TX-NR787 which can be had for $649 right now - B&H Photo will price-match Amazon [amazon.com] and Best Buy [bestbuy.com] so it can be had with free shipping and no tax everywhere but NY and NJ.

I want a 9.2 so I can do a 5.1.4 setup and I don't care about the Onkyo's lack of pre-amp outputs and I REALLY don't want to spend the coin for the Denon/Marantz/Yamaha/etc. 9.2 AVRs.

I wish HEOS speakers were not so expensive. Same price as Sonos but half the quality interface.

Sorry for taking this thread even more off topic but I was able to get Walt's TV to sell me the new TX-RZ630 (9.2) for $600.00 shipped and no tax via online chat. I think it's pretty similar to the TX-NR787 but has a 3 year warranty and also has HDMI zone 2 and possibilities to have 3 audio zones if you aren't looking for 5.2.4. Pretty sure Walt's only has tax in AZ.
