Here's a pro tip: removing the "Lol" would have made your post sound 100% less douchey while still conveying the same message.

Anyhoo, I'm considering buying this for the third time (already own on 360 and PS4) just so I can mess around with mods, but I don't exactly have a top shelf gaming pc, though some quick googling seems to indicate a 1050 ti should be able to handle a solid fps so I'll probably pull the trigger. Thanks OP, you're a rock star! (SEE WHAT I DID THERE?!)

Rockstar social club (RSSC) is required to play the game. Getting the Steam version just means you launch the game from within Steam. You still need to activate with RSSC and it will still launch from Steam. Buying the Steam version just means you're launching two clients (Steam then RSSC) instead of just one. It's for people who for some reason must have Steam Friends feature and Steam's achievements for this game. Your Steam friends will still find you through RSSC and join you from there. If you're just playing single player, there is absolutely no beneficial reason in getting the Steam version.

Anyways, whenever I see posts similar to "No Steam, no buy," I tend to think of these people as "game collectors" instead of gamers that actually play the games they buy. If you want to play a specific game and it goes on sale at the right price, you wouldn't care whether it's UPlay, Epic, Origin, GoG, RSSC, or Steam. But for Steam game collectors, it matters because they want all their games in one easy place to find.

Don't do it, Rockstar Games Social Club is a pain.
My advice is pay more for steam, way less hassle.

Too bad they don't have an option for Steam, even if it was a few bucks more.

The Rockstar Social Club version sucks. Can't play on Steam link and the installer.exe failed over and over and over until finally working. It's ridiculous.

I wish I hadn't ever fallen for this deal (a while back). I'll probably buy it again for Steam. Annoying.

Steam only on this one. Read too many bad things about the Rockstar Social Club version.

Lol. I don't have any issues with Rockstar version. I don't have any issues with any other launcher clients either. It's your PC that is the problem.

Wouldn't it be easier and more economical (for your wallet and hard drive) to just block the ports Rockstar uses in your firewall?

Also, modding is as simple as moving the folder before you go online.

They meant for cheaters to get a new copy cheap for when/if they get banned.

I thought it didn't matter if you are on Steam or not. You still need a rockstar account and register with it?
