have we given up on reposting deals?

today especially, there's half a dozen threads about the same tv deal and all are getting popular or front page tags.

has this rule been abandoned?

feel free to mod alert any thread(s) you feel are reposts and one of the mods on duty will take a look Smilie.

Thanks.

I know mods will look, but this is more of a community question. If only a few people care, that can't keep sd threads clean.

it sounds like a pretty good deal if multiple people are trying to post. also it appears that that particular tv has gone on sale at multiple retailers, which may contribute to any extra da you may have received (different store = different deal)

The first post on this covered the different retailers.

Like I said, if sd is allowing multiple posts cause "a deal must be good", and because the same price change happened at multiple locations, then why do we have the rule, threads, (or the wiki function) at all? It seems like exceptions are being made up for any number of reasons.

It just creates clutter to finding other deals, since no one appears to be able to merge threads on demand.

the rules still exist, and we do our best to stay on top of things here...but there are a few of us, and a ton of users, which is why we also have a mod alert system Smilie

Let me clarify, this is not me bitching about mods.

It's more trying to get feedback from a community who seems to not care/ won't bother to search before posting.

You won't find an answer to that question here Smilie

I'm also tired of the reposts and the fact that the mods just move the topic without telling the person what they are doing wrong or giving them a warning. I quit wasting my time reporting topics because of this. Same thing goes for those not posting free digital goods in the digital goods forum.

Also, why did this reposter get a FP page deal? This is complete BS and it's not fair to the original posters. https://slickdeals.net/f/11780843-digital-icon-music-albums-from-jonny-cash-kiss-boyz-ii-men-more-free

You have to help us so we can help you but if you're not going to tell people they are doing wrong and/or give them warnings and just celebrate them breaking rules then I'm not going to report either wrong doing. You can waste your time but I'm not going to waste mine. Just know that I grow more frustrated with every infraction I see. Also know that I'm a good forum member who reps almost every deal I get and people that help me. I would think you would want to keep people like me around and not the reposters and folks posting in the wrong forum. They can't learn if you don't teach!

While I hate reposts as much as the next guy, who really cares if something gets FP or not? In all seriousness, I completely ignore the FP and just look at threads that interest me, irrelevant of FP or other status. The last time my own thread got FP'd I was actually shocked since it was posted as a very short lived deal (Amazon accidental price drop). I really see the FP as more of a marketing gimmick then anything else -- some of the best deals still here are usually the more hidden gems, and by the time they get popular, the deal is dead.

You're missing the point. My point was they are rewarding someone who is clearly breaking the rules and stealing the thunder away from the original posters. If I was an original poster I would be angry and it would discourage me from posting deals.

I understand what you are saying, but I think you are missing my point.

Again, who cares about FP -- either as a poster or a reader. They are generally crappy deals in the grand scheme of things. If you post a deal that goes FP, what do you get? Maybe some extra reps and a [PRO] tag next to your name for a couple months. Which no matter how you look at it is worth absolutely nothing outside of maybe an ego boost. You can't trade in reps for cash, so until that happens I don't really see the big issue. Don't get me wrong, I still think SD employees should keep the playing field fair and consolidate/eliminate reports, but I don't see what the big deal is about going FP or not. If that's the only reason why you, or anyone in general, is posting deals, as opposed to just trying to help and be a part of the community, I think you are missing the point of the site.

Not sure why you're stuck on the whole FP thing. Rewarding bad behavior by any means is like saying it's acceptable and that it's fair game to repost and stab other more established posters in the back who posted first.

P.S. Up to a point rep gives you more entries into the giveaways so yes it's kind of a big deal up to a point.

P.S.S. Things are so bad now that I even see prolific posters reposting. Not sure if he or she is staff or not.
