It was a couple bucks less before from home depot a couple months ago. Not interested in spending $50 per fan to connect to wifi/alexa/google.

From what I understand from reading reviews, the bond hub is the equivalent to what the harmony hub does for TV and AV equipment.

I got it on the last sale. I love it. Turns any RF fan into smart fan which can align with SmartThings. They plan to expand offering beyond fans in the future.

I have one of these, and I love it. My only complaint is currently no SmartThings integration, though they say it is coming. But I was able to use IFTTT and a few simulated switches in SmartThings to get it to do what I want.

Yeah, I tried so hard to make my Harmony Hub do it, which is why I bought the BOND.

I bought this when they first released and I can confirm it works for non-smart RF fans. I have 2 Casablanca and 3 Monte Carlo fans and the Bond was able to control all of them after initial setup. Alexa can turn fans on, off, and adjust speed. It can also control the fan light. The hub has not exactly been stable though, I had issues applying firmware updates and the last few months it hasn't worked at all. Support is very good and recommended I do a full reset and re-configure all of my fans. I haven't done this yet as it requires the hub to be within 2 feet of the remote and it's a major PITA given my hub/fan placement.

tl:dr; This worked beautifully at first, fills a major gap in HA, and has no alternatives as far as I can tell. I've hit some firmware bugs and the setup can be cumbersome but support is responsive and I would definitely buy this again.

The broadlink RM 3 Pro does IR and RF. Pretty sure it can control fans. I use it for a bunch of IR based devices and it's awesome. I use the GE Z Wave switch for my fan though.

Can this control IR mini splits? Still trying to find a solution to make these things "smart" in anyway, that's not $100+ per unit. (Harmony doesn't work)

Probably a silly question, but to control IR fans, I'd need a dedicated Bond in every room, right? It isn't able to do something different to circumvent the line-of-sight issue with IR remotes.

Yes, for IR fans you would still have the same line-of-sight issues.

I want one but I don't need one. Plus it appears to be buggy so I'll wait for something better

Have you tried to add it via the manual pairing process?
