Great price for a great set. With the power functions this set has provided countless hours of entertainment for the little ones. My nephew and niece spent a good half hour just dropping pieces into the excavation buckets.and watching their progression.
Build wise this one took a while and the gearing was nice and complex.
After building the mechanism does tend to slip with medium pressure. This is by design as a protection for the gears. There are ways around it if you don't care about some gears potentially being eaten up.

$200!!! That's a deal? Marked down from $280. Meh, if this was the Titianic, I might jump on it. Too bad, Lego said they won't do Titanic.
You cannot afford it

Edit; response to your original question.

You should check out some of the prices for discontinued sets. Buy a $200 5yr CD at the bank, and buy this & put it away for 5 years. Let's see which one does better?

Huh, never thought about investing in Lego sets for my retirement. Unfortunately my one experience holding on to a toy for a long term investment diddnt work out. That 1998 Mark Maguire Starting Lineup is worth less than when I bought it. laugh out loud
