The Thunderbolt's the real eye catcher, although I think the gap between 7th and 8th gen might be worth the year-long wait as this is a want, not a need...

Have been using the i3 NUC for the past couple months as a Plex box. Been very happy with it, and only bogs down on severe on-the-fly transcoding.

This i5 or the i7 should be very good when paired with a lower end m.2 and non-local storage or a hybrid large capacity drive (if getting the 'tall' version).
