No there's a sensor inside that detects the alcohol content of any beverage. If alcohol content is detected at less than 0.5% the auto shutdown mechanism is triggered until the offending beverage is removed.

It's a really neat feature that has completely saved my sobriety.

Side note: it literally says soda in the title and the picture has a soda in it Smilie

If all you want is ice cold beers at whatever factory temperature your mini fridge is set at then you don't need this.

yeah im curious too, usually the peltier types dont get that low. maybe if its running for a long time and no one opens the door.
