I found a super amazing "Black Friday in July" sale on Macys.com. This canister sits between the high-end "Cinetic Canister", and the lower-end regular "Ball Canister". It has 250 air-watts (which is more than the 245AW "Ball Multi-Floor 2" upright). It's $229.99 after $200 off with free shipping or in-store pick-up.

I actually bought this vacuum recently at $299, so this is even a better deal now. I think the cinetic big ball is the next step up in terms of model, but this one is more than sufficient. Compared to the cinetic, you can actually take the filter out and wash it with this one. With the cinetic, you can't, which some consider an advantage. Anyways, there's a good number of attachments on this one. While I think the Costco one has more attachments, they're not worth $220 more. Other than the attachments, I think the vacuum is the same.

If you want a canister Dyson vac, I'd highly recommend this one at this price. The canister is easier to maneuver than the upright. If you click through the reviews on the Macys site for this vac, you'll see pics from one reviewer that shows the attachments. They're useful.

I've previously owned other Dysons and this one is my favorite yet. I don't see sales on the canister vacs often.

Good luck!

Is this the most updated canister one?
How compare to Costco's Animal+ one at $449.99?

Good price. CR gives it a middling rating, FYI.

How does it perform on carpet? I had a weaker Dyson canister and it didn't work well on carpet.

If your carpet is very shag or thick, sometimes the spinning head loses traction and you have to let up a little. Otherwise, on thin or medium length carpet I've found it to be fine. The spinning head isn't as wide or strong as the older canisters (used to own a DC23 until someone broke it) motorized spinning heads, as I think it's driven by the suction rather than a motor itself. Works fine though and I like mine. Hope this helps.

I've been searching articles that compare a motorized brush head to suction-powered brush head to compare performance. Do you have carpets that you use your canister on?
