The AMD motherboard reviews have been less than stellar - at least what I've been reading here, Reddit and other places. Wish I could find one that was universally loved. I dont need M.2, but overclocking options/stability are of prime importance.

From what I've been reading, x370 boards will need a bios update to run the 2700x cpu. And you will need a 1xxx amd cpu to do the update. Or get a boot kit from amd specifically.

Seems to be a bit of a gamble but if they have the sticker "AMD Ryzen Desktop 2000 Ready" or some indication in the listing as such, they should (read: have a higher probability to) work.

I say gamble cause: https://www.reddit.com/r/Amd/comm...000_ready/
