Almost matches the usual Bestbuy deal. Now if this is without tax, then that would be pretty good.

Thanks! Had my eye on this laptop for a while and it came out to $702.17 for me after taxes. Still a good deal, at least for me.

This would be a "good deal" at $600 w/ free shipping.

My rationale is that Best Buy has been selling the model just below this one (AN515-51-55WL) for $550 free shipping, which retails for $800, so that would a difference of $250.

This laptop (AN515-53-55G9) retails for $850, which is $50 above the previous model, and a difference of $200 between this deal and retail.

i might very well be wrong but imho, that model you are referring to is the previous year's model (7th gen i5) which would maybe give them more incentive to sell at a higher discount. this has an 8th gen. but who knows, maybe you're onto something.

Come to think of it, that code was 15% off, while this is only for 10%. That's probably part of the difference right there. for someone who needs it now (me), and don't want to risk that a 15% or 20% will not come along anytime soon, i think it's an ok deal. A bird in the hand is better than 2 in the bush, as they say. LOL

I have this laptop, got it from best buy for $656.20 plus tax after discount gift cards. The processor is super-strong but the 1050ti is the bottleneck to better gaming. As long as you are okay playing the newest games on medium/high settings, it's a great laptop for this budget price range.

In addition to what superproxy said this model also has the pcie ssd which means you can add a larger hard drive in the 2.5" bay. Although i dont remember if this model has 1 or 2 2.5" drive bays. Either way that was the reason i have been watching this one. And if the 1050ti is not cutting it for your gaming needs then you need to look at laptops with higher price tags. You wont find a nicer (read "better value") gaming laptop for less than $1000. Cue the trolls posting refurbs from Rakuten.

You might be right about the older processor model having a bigger discount, but they are both on the same lineup https://www.acer.com/ac/en/US/con...ops/nitro5

I was just putting that out there for anyone that cared, but I would pay $100 more for a laptop that I really wanted

I bought this desktop from Costco for $535 (including tax). This laptop will cost me about $700 (including tax). Is this laptop a betterr deal since it has a SSD and a better video card? I know the desktop processor is a little faster ( based on CPU benchmark score), but all I do is video and photo editing and office use. I don't play games, but I might start doing that Smilie.

Would not recommend as a editing option unless you have a good monitor to connect to, as the ips display on the laptop only covers 68 percent of the sRGB color gamut.
