Whatever you do, do NOT let the battery get low on these. I had a battery die on me mid-use and the blade caught on a clump of hairs, leaving me no option by to yank them all out. The subsequent blood and screaming ensured that I would never forget to put a fresh battery in the thing before using it.

I'm a big fan of the Panasonic ER430K. I've been using mine for 3 or 4 years now. It still works like new. As you might not expect, the vacuum function actually works quite well. It doesn't pick up everything of course, but certainly the majority. It's also very easy to clean. There's a screen inside that catches trimmings. To clean, I'll run the pieces of the upper assembly (screen, blade, & head) under the faucet, give everything a few shakes, and reassemble. Never had a problem. Just make sure you don't lose the blade piece down the drain. It's quite small and could potentially fit past your sink stopper. Mine usually stays inside the head portion, but there's nothing holding it in there that I can see so it could easily fall out when disassembled. I get about a year out of the single AA battery.

Looks like the more expensive one is bigger and has a vacuum function. Otherwise they appear to be the same.

The company name was bought after they closed up shop. I think it's the same company that owns Compusa and TigerDirect, but my memory is fuzzy on that since it has been awhile.

You couldn't change the battery out with one hand and let the blade stay in there???
