I don't know about cakes, but I can recommend the Insignia reverb. It sells at BestBuy for $229, but I got it in an open box for $70 on fleabay. Well worth it. 100 lumens and decent audio, so you don't have to set up a separate speaker.

Not really understanding the product then. People use this like 1 foot away from the surface, 720p or higher would be a complete waste.

Can you talk a bit about screen size at different distances? The description on Best Buy is so vague. What is adjustable in size/focus/keystone? Thanks for the tip BTW, at $100 or less on ebay and 4x lumens sounds much better

If you really wanted a Pico, you should set an alert for this: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/pr..._pico.html

It was $239 (no tax for most, free shipping), Laser requires zero focus and has full keystone (vertical and horizontal). Full sized HDMI port, screen mirroring and can act as a power bank so you can plug a Chromecast or similar device straight in to the USB and HDMI for self contained solution.

Best of all the screen is 1920 x 720. Why the odd size you ask? Because its 1080p but without the black bars on extra wide content. Either way, its closest to true 1080p than any other pico.

Neat looking device, appreciate the rec. To be honest though, the sub $100 price point and relatively loud built in speaker on the Reverb were big selling points for me. I'd not use a Pico very much, and the almost throway price point is a huge plus - it'd be for some small art projects and to entertain young kid relatives of mine, that kind of thing.
