I agree. Although for what it is worth, AFAICT it seems the Far Cry 5 promotion has ended as of May 20th and AMD hasn't rolled out any new free game promotional package AFAIK anyways for those non-eBay purchases (please anyone who sees correct me if I'm wrong here).

This is the lowest I've seen Vega 64s and I was almost ready to part with my $, but convinced myself that a good deal on a 3 fan model will be along soon...

This is a very good price for a Vega 64. Very happy with my Sapphire Vega 64 from a performance standpoint so would recommend the 64 as a solid performer.

What do you think on the performance vs a GTX 1080? Just looked and it appears slower than a 1080 yet above a 1070. Wait for 1080s to get $400 again unless it must be team red.

Think the 64 vs 1080 depends on the game. AMD optimized will favor the 64 while others may favor the 1080. I have a freesync monitor so wanted to go AMD.

Don't get hung up on absolute frame rate. You probably can't tell the difference between 84 fps and 78 fps. While not a bargain the 64 will play games very smoothly. A Vega 56 on sale is probably a better deal if you don't want to shell out close to $500.

I wanted to drive a 3440 x 1440 monitor a high refresh and this does it nicely. Older games hit 100 fps fairly easily and have had Grim Dawn on highest settings at 70-90 fps. Haven't had the fps counter on Far Cry 5 yet, but it looked beautiful.

As DarthCY says, it really all depends on the game (mostly - but also resolution and graphic settings - see below). If you look here for example, Tom's Hardware [tomshardware.com] shows this particular Vega 64 sometimes handily beating the 1080. Other times the 1080 edges it out and other times they are about the same.

Anecdotally, the trend I have seen across many reviews, is the 1080 at lower resolutions and lower graphical detail settings will usually win out in terms of raw speed (Tom's ran their benchmarks at 2560x1440). But as you hit 2560x1440 and go up from there, Vega tends to have higher minimum FPS and edges out the 1080 quite a bit more often.

Or if you're against the anti-consumerism Nvidia has displayed over the past two decades. Both are good reasons!

How does compare to a dual 290x crossfire set up? Would like to go back to a single card. Thanks for your advice.
