Yeah, I can't believe they're still selling USB 2.0 drives. USB 3.0 was announced almost 10 years ago.

USB 2.0 is still fine for some applications. One that comes to mind is using this as a cheap stick to keep in your car, filled with music / podcasts / audiobooks. Or just keep it as emergency storage when traveling - maybe you found yourself filling up your camera; you can dump some stuff off onto this.

Yeah, it's not ideal...but I wouldn't dismiss it outright.

Should maybe put USB 2.0 in the title.

I can get a 128GB USB 3.0 flash drive from Microcenter everyday for $19.99.

So yeah, I'll dismiss this 'deal' outright.
Really? Can you link me to one please? I need to load up some stuff on one for the inlaws.

Update: Nevermind, Found it. Dont think i'm going to bite on those. Some of the reviews look scary. I've noticed that the positive reviews are from the average joe who just needs something to get the job done. The negative reviews are from the more tech savvy people. I'll pass on the Microcenter USB drives.

Go to microcenter.com and search for 'USB drive'. You'll see all the options including the $20

Link [microcenter.com]

In store only it appears for this size.

USB 3 doesn't mean anything if the write speed on the flash is pitifully slow. The Microcenter drives aren't particularly fast IIRC.

Faster than USB 2 all day long regardless....

Your call of course. Not sure that 9 bad reviews (out of 200!!!) would scare me off. In fact it hasn't. I own a couple of the 16GB ones...work fine.

Yes there are faster USB 3.0 drives, but I've not experienced a single USB 2.0 drive on the planet comes close....I think I saw 15MB/s write one time....

Mine seem to write around 30-35 MB/s transfer speed. At the price, they are simply unbeatable. I could pay a bunch more and get 50+ write speed, but a 50% gain isn't worth the price difference to me.

Slow writing ticks the heck out of me. I can't stomach USB 2.0 unless II'm saving a very small amount of data.
