Only 10% off, not bad for a new released gimbal.

For anyone who's serious in mobile smartphone cinematography, I would not recommend buying this gimbal nor the DJI Osmo Mobile 2. I have owned this gimbal for a few months now and it's terrible for the Samsung Galaxy S8+. The Zhiyun app is a total mess as you can only shoot as high as 1080p@30fps. Some parts of the menu in the app are still in Chinese and it often crashes and gets unresponsive from time to time. The zoom dial on the gimbal isn't that great as some people may think. There's always a 1-2 second delay.

I personally just use the default camera app with the gimbal. Which is great, but the downside to that is ALL of the buttons on the gimbal is unusable unless I use the Zhiyun app.

Oh, and good luck trying to attempt on contacting Zhiyun's customer support for questions about the product or even warranty. It's pretty much non-existent.

The only thing I like about this gimbal is the tripod that comes with it. Why? Because with DJI's gimbal, you have to purchase the "stand" for like $10-30, it's totally absurd. It's a very small quality of life thing that I appreciate with the product.

I really wish Samsung could make their own gimbal stabilizer...

Agree. Get the previous model and just use your own camera. The software features aren't worth it since you can only do. 1080p/30

The app crashes all the time. However used purely as a gimbal, this one works. Osmo mobile has integration for filmicpro. If focus pulling worked on filmic or any similar software, this would have been a good deal. As is, this is not a good handheld gimbal to spend money on.

If not this, nor the Osmo 2, what would you recommend for someone with a galaxy phone as well? I was really in between the 2 but leaning towards DJI seeing that the Zhiyun app is horrible

I may also be wrong about this, but the DJI Osmo Mobile 2 doesn't support 2K or 4K nor 60fps@1080p for the Galaxy S8+. They may have change this. However, the last time I checked, which was a few months ago, I remember seeing a bunch of complaints by customers on DJI's forum about the issue and a poor response by the community manager.

Gimbal stabilizer for smartphones in general; at least for Android devices, is still a very new thing and it's an evolving technology just like VR headsets and wireless earbuds. You can still buy these gimbal stabilizers and just use them for the stable video recording. But if you want to use the features and functions on them, you'll have to sacrifice video quality.

My advice is to just get whatever cheap gimbal stabilizer that supports the weight of your smartphone and just use it for the pure stabilization. Until then, we'll need to wait for either Apple or Samsung to create their own gimbal stabilizer in order to build competitions and demand amongst other tech companies for an advancement in the technology.

Or just get an iPhone. Since Zhiyun and DJI's gimbal stabilizers supports 4K for them, sadly. Smilie

Thanks for the info. You said not to buy the osmo mobile 2 also, however outside of having to pay out of pocket $10-30 for the stand you didnt say why. Osmo mobile 2 is msrp priced lower than smooth 4 by $10. Maybe they took the stand into account. For those needing a good stand, I have an awesome one I've used forever for my lumix g5 m4/3, folds up, straps securely to tree branches, bars, almost anything within reasonable thickness. I'll try find a link for it and post in here

Well, to add more detail... The Zhiyun Smooth-4, in my opinion, is a lot better than the DJI Osmo Mobile 2 for its price and functions that it has to offer. The only thing the Osmo Mobile 2 that does better than the Smooth-4 is the auto-tracking on people in its app. The physical form factor might be another pro as it's somewhat smaller than the Smooth-4 as well. However, not having a tripod that comes along with it is a huge turnoff as you need to dish out ~$20 to get a tripod for it.

The "DJI Genuine Base For Osmo Mobile 2" is currently going for ~$20 on Amazon at the moment, and it goes a lot more at DJI's official store or even the Apple store. And it's a must-have accessory I'd say, as it's impossible to safely balance these things on its own on a surface without a sturdy base/tripod.

Honestly, between the two products, it just comes down to which company's app you prefer to use (DJI vs Zhiyun); which company you prefer (customer service, warranty, etc); and the physical appearance and body. Because both of the gimbal stabilizers will both perform great in terms of capturing a smooth video with your smartphone. It just comes down to personal preferences.

I've read that the Latest App supports S9 / S9+ for 4k already. Apparently it was updated recently. (this week)

Please confirm S9 and S9+ Users.

I only get the option for 4K 30 on iPhone X

1080 30 or 60 also.

Interesting, so it may not do 4K 60 but it does 4K 30 FPS.

It would be great if some day iPhones could turn off their built in OIS optical image stabilization as that is always fighting the stabilizing efforts of the gimbal.
