This is a killer deal. Here is a link to a TechRadar review on this camera - from two weeks ago. When they're looking at a three year old camera today and saying it essentially kicks the snot out of the models that followed it, you might want to take a closer look.

https://www.techradar.com/reviews...-zs50-tz70

I've been looking for one of these for a while. I had been waiting for a 15% eBay coupon to pick up a "new other" copy from Skymall listed at $229. I'm just going to get this.

Very good camera, but be careful
Had the camera for over a year, Was still in mint condition but one day realized that a lot of dust had made its way into the lens. Did some research and found a lot of people who where going through the same situation.

I was about to post this deal and glad somebody else did. If you don't want to lug around a DSLR, but want a compact, pocketable camera with a good telephoto zoom that's still good for wildlife photography, you'll be hard-pressed to find a better camera at this price.

Is it more dust than normal? Did the dust affect image quality at all?

Thing about zoom lenses these days is that it's impossible to keep dust out completely. Every zoom lens from P&S to 400mm monsters are gonna have some dust inside.

Just curious if the dust issue is particularly bad or just within normal range.

Isn't the zoom more limited on that model?

25x v 30x. For these compact camera, 25x is more than enough.

I would not say better. Similar but cheaper.

Wanted to hold out for an SD on that sony RX100, but this is tempting at less than half the price.

I know. Don't get me wrong I know dust in a lens is always a possibility. But I've been into photography for a while now, always taken good care of my gear, but out of all the camera and lenses I've own over the years this is the only one I've had a dust problem with. And again I'm not the only one who had this problem with this particular camera. Before I purchased mines I had read some reviews online and a couple of people had pointed this out. At first I figure maybe they where being careless with the camera but after mines went through the same issue I'll say it's something worth pointing out.

The SX620 is a great camera, but what's best for you depends upon the features you care about.

AFAIK, besides a somewhat smaller zoom range (625mm max vs. the Lumix's 720mm max), the Canon does not have an electronic viewfinder, raw support, manual exposure, or time lapse recording, all features of the Lumix. It also has 1/2 the maximum ISO of the Lumix, and much slower continuous shooting.

In its favor, the Canon has a higher sensor resolution, 20MP vs. the Lumix's 12MP.
