Great deal for a solid pair of powered speakers; cheaper than what I paid for a used pair 6 months ago on Amazon.

Bass and imaging from this set is surprising. There is a volume knob on the front of one of the speakers which is convenient.

Which one is better?

This one, PreSonus Eris E8, or Klipsch RB61 II?

Anyone know if these would work well with a turntable? I have a Rega Planar 3 which is brand new (to me) and I have to imagine no pre-amp. Would I need something between these and the turntable?

Totally different animals.

Klipsch RB61 II:
Requires pre/amp or receiver
Is larger (overall dimensions and in driver size)
Is designed for sound in a room (not near field use)
Likely wider frequency response than Eris

PreSonus Eris:
Self powered (no external amp req'd)
Smaller in overall dimensions and driver size
Designed for monitor (near field) use
Probably flatter response (less/no mid bass hump, more accurate but sometimes less "fun")
Is less than half the price of the klipsch

I'd get the Eris for desktop speakers or somewhere tight, like my breakfast nook. I'd get the klipsch for a bedroom system or living room setup that's not too intrusive.

Can anyone comment on how these compare to the Tascams or Mackies that regularly go on sale for the pair < $100 price range?

How do these compare to the Mackie CR3 monitors posted here earlier?

https://slickdeals.net/f/11776959-mackie-cr-series-cr3-3-creative-reference-multimedia-monitors-pair-includes-bluetooth-2-in-1-wireless-audio-receiver-79-00?src=SiteSearchV2_SearchBarV2Algo1

About the same price but the Mackie deal ($79) includes these extras:
BUNDLE INCLUDES: Mackie CR3 - 3" Woofer Creative Reference Multimedia Monitor Speakers (Pair) - Bluetooth 2-in-1 Wireless Audio Receiver - 1/8" to Stereo RCA Cable - 1/8" to 1/8" Cable - 6' Speaker to Speaker Cable - Monitor Isolation Pads (2)

On the other hand, the Eris E3.5 has slightly larger drivers (3.5" vs 3") and seems to be of better overall quality.

Just returned some e4s because they produced a constant rhythmic thump, even with no source. Still using my shitty Logitechs that they were meant to replace which produce no such thumping.
