On a slightly related note - that is such an effing shame that UK Amazon (and other EU Amazons) abruptly (and with no explanations whatsoever) stopped shipping Lego sets across the pond to the US :-(((
This set is available in most of UK stores for 60 GBP (which is $80 now) with VAT already included.

A few years ago it would've cost around 10-15 GBP to ship it to the US from Germany/UK, but VAT saving would've almost offset the shipping charge. For some reason Amazon quietly blocked this "feature" so most of the time we are now stuck with higher prices Lego charges its US&Canadian customers :-(

End of rant

Postage. That's all you really need to know. They blocked most collector's edition sets of video games as well due to size/weight. I used to bring in a lot of EU exclusive sets for my collection. But no more. Frown

Slightly confused though, you say this is 80 dollars in the UK, then why would you want to buy here? I am missing something?

Never mind, I am an idiot! Misread. Thanks for the info.

I doubt that was about postage - Amazon DE (as an example) still has several shipping options for many other items, some of which can be more expensive than the item itself. For example, I tried adding a Britax Römer Kidfix car seat and it lets me choose shipping options to my US address with no issues.

However, if I add ANY Lego set sold or shipped by Amazon.de, I can't even get to the shipping screen, it just tells me to pound sand right away.

Now video games and some media have always been on a "restricted list" mostly because of licensing issues and sales rights in various countries (not that I think it's a right thing, that's just how content industry works :-( ), however the interesting thing with Lego is that it is NOT on any of the restricted list, yet it's impossible to order it and if you ask a very direct question to Amazon support, they will send you a 2-page BS generic answer with the same list that would not contain Lego sets LMAO

I think this started roughly 2 years ago - I remember I even posted some Lego deals from Amazon.co.uk here before this ban...

Screenshots to illustrate the point (not sure they will be visible from SD App though)

Thanks for mentioning that. I was considering this but won't buy it now because of this. Looks like there are quite a few stickers pieces in this set. I miss the days when Lego would silkscreen the designs instead of using cheap stickers.
