Best price I have seen for this other than using the occasional EBay coupon.

What about the one for about $10 less from acer recertified direct??

I notice they've got like 3 different UPC but use almost the same model # so confusing.

Great price, but I've heard bad things about refurbs from Rakuten.

Buy it directly from Acer Ebay store [ebay.com] for $160 using the 15% off Ebay code on FP.
15% off ebay code can not be used for computers.

Nice catch, i thought this was one of those 15% everything coupons. That being said, i would probably wait or get it directly from acer when they run a sale.

What can you realistically use these for? Light usage / browsing internet etc?

This laptop is great and really pretty all metal. I use it for the past year (got scratch and dent from Acer recertified site for 130) and I pretty much abandoned my windows machine. If you just need a browser machine and don't game I totally recommend. Netflix works well and its HDMI is there to watch a movie if u are up to. Android apps work on it although it is true there is no touch screen...

I personally keep an 11" touchscreen Chromebook easily accessible in the living room for when I just want to hop on and do things on websites I prefer the "desktop" experience for. Like when paying some bills or accessing certain online accounts; more in-depth web browsing/online shopping. It boots up in seconds and the one I have is also compatible with Android apps, so it's good for Word docs and such. Sometimes I pair my PS4 controller and play emulators on it. It integrates well with my Android phones and the Google ecosystem.

I've got other decent "enough" machines laying around I could mess with: two 5.5" phones, 15.6" i7 5th gen Windows laptop, i5 6th gen desktop, iPad Mini 4, Galaxy Tab S2 8.0. If it's something I don't feel the need to do quickly on my phone (dealing with mobile apps/websites or a small screen) and/or just want the keyboard/mouse experience, I find myself reaching for the Chromebook 90% of the time over the other devices to get the simple stuff done quickly. Battery life is remarkable too, so I don't have to charge it often. They're generally not a huge investment, especially if you can find a nice price on a good refurb. So if it's in the budget, it can be another nice option to have at one's disposal.

Plenty of refurb Windows machines in this same price range. Get a full PC that doesn't lock you into privacy-invading services. Chromebooks have incredible return rates. This doesn't even have a touch-screen is an absolute must for Android apps.
You're not going to get a functional windows machine at this price, budget processors work for chrome os not so well for windows
