Best price I've ever seen, no tax in AL, not sure other states.
Sell by Adorama.

RAM (2 slots) and SSD (m2 and sata) are upgradeable.

The overheating problem on 9570 is worse. (Please correct me if I'm wrong)

The release date of 9580 is unknown, more than likely be next year.

Yeah, but still low enough for me to pull the trigger.

There is a mistake in the title of that EBay listing - says 512gb but the description says 256 gb

Unfortunately, 9570 is worse, the 8th generation cpu produce more heat than this one, also 1050ti, and 9570 uses the same cooling system as 9560. For heavy gaming purposes, you may have to apply thermal pad on cooling pipes.

8th gen i5 is the best bet IMO

Good laptop, I own this exact model. Fingeprint reader has some problems that come and go, so I just don't use it. Recently I've been getting VRAM errors, but that's likely due to me doing 12 hour stresses for a project I had. Even though my warranty expired, I was able to renew it for 1 year for $79. I'll send it in for a motherboard replacement since the GPU is soldered on. Maybe I'll also ask for a fingerprint reader replacement and trackpad reposition as it is a little lopsided.

Agree.

I want 8th gen i5 but Dell only make non-touch version on that i5 machine, they also cut the 1050ti.

There have been a lot of great deals already this year so this one lukewarm at best. I would take my chances at Back to School sales. When I think of the Lenovo 15" 4K 2in1 i7 7700HQ, 16GB, 512GB ssd gtx 1050 for $1000, this laptop becomes a hard sell. Obviously nobody knows if that deal will ever come back again. That wasn't the only one either. Dell XPS had seen a lot of deals around that price this year.

This laptop is good if you don't ever plan to do any upgrades. Once you start putting money into it, it's not a deal anymore.

So if I were looking for the best laptop under 1000 bucks, you'd say wait for prime day and back to school sales?
