Actually not bad for what they are. The Pentiums these have are dual-core, Sandy Bridge based, so they aren't completely awful. The 6300 has a newer chipset than the 6200 so I would probably go with that since you get 4x USB3, not to mention 2GB RAM is anemic even for W7. PSU is 240W. Has a PCIe 3.0 x16 slot but you would need a low profile card. You could throw a GT 1030 in this and be able to play some games.

I think we still have similar computers (with very similar specs) in our office and they have just slowly started to replace those with newer ones. They still work perfectly for most of day-to-day office stuff.

Add an SSD and some RAM and it'd be a quick little computer for light business use.

This. For word processing, Excel and bill paying this is all I'd need.

FYI, the "pentium dual core" in the HP 6300 is a Pentium G640, which scores a 2530 on passmark. Has been same price in the past (I myself got a front page posting the same deal a couple months ago). Purchased multiples of these in the past year or so for where I work. Add an SSD, makes it a nice and snappy little system. And a pack of skittles!

That's actually not too bad and good to know. I searched for Pentium Dual Core 2.8ghz and Google came back with a much worse processor.

These machines can easily do most of the basic stuff. Great price!

Or get something like this 8300 [ebay.com], put in an SSD and use that 8GB of RAM and you have a really sharp computer as well! I bought one of these last year, and even though it's limited with graphics, it's still a great computer for the money.

Although the price is very appealing, I think it is better to go with the Intel Compute Stick, Asus VivoStick, or similar HMDI computers if it's for Grandma. Plug it into the TV with Bluetooth keyboard for everyday email, video streaming, or whatever they want to do. It is more cost effective (in terms of wattage), storage, and bigger viewable screen

Think you have a point, but I'll say these are pretty easy to connect to a TV, just need an extra $10 for a Displayport to HDMI cable, if they need the extra horsepower and RAM. Big difference in snappiness going from 2 to 4 gigs.

It's all the extra time training grandma how to use it though!

Ditto. Got one for basic usage for the kids back on that same deal, and it's been just fine.

I was a little confused/surprised about the included Skittles tho... wondered if it was just me laugh out loud
