Since its EVGA it qualifies for step-up program but its only worth it if the new cards from EVGA come out in October.

Also you can try to price match with NewEgg to avoid paying the tax.

You can also get this for 427.99 (399.99 +28.00 tax) by stacking with the 20% off Amex deal.

My worry is that the glut of 1xxx cards is gonna push the release by a few months more than normal. October already seems late as is.

A good deal a year ago for sure. A good deal if nothing new comes out in the next 5 months.

Yeah I've heard the same, which is why I am torn on this being good or not. A 1080 is a great card for FHD, a good card for VR, and WQHD, and a performer to anything below UHD. But if the 1180 really does have the performance touted.. that $200-300 more for the 1180 would go far. If the 1170 performance is on par with a 1080 or 1080ti, but newer/better.. that also detracts from the deal.

This is part of why buying tech in Q1-Q2 or H1 of the year can be a pain. New stuff is always just around the corner.

I have a gaming X, it's one of my favorite models of 1080's. Doesn't go on sale that often though.

11xx is going to be announced (more than likely) in August. But the aftermarket cards don't come our for another 2-3 months after that.

I personally own a 1080 that I bought used so I can sell it at a minimal loss and buy 1180 when the first EVGA cards come out.

But for the current time period this is a good deal if someone is looking for a GPU and need to right now.

It's an okay deal if you're fine with using last generation tech in few short months. $500 for 1080 sounds ridiculous with next gen on the horizon. I'd slap myself in the face if I place an order for this in July 2018. Fortunately I got the 1080 Ti before the crypto craze.

On average 6% better in performance, so if you already own 1070Ti - don't buy this unless you want AIO GPU
