My sister once told me: "Do you know how you know it's an Alcatel phone? Because Al-ca-tel it sucks!"

Good deal at $120. Screen is large and bright and battery is pretty decent too. Comes with Oreo and an SD slot. Face unlock is ultra quick.

I think the V8 is a much better phone by a decent margin. ZTE probably makes the best budget 6 inch phones available like the Metro ZBlade and ZPro. If you can find them unlocked they'll work on At&t and T-Mobile MVNOs. I own all three and prefer the V8 for phone duty and the 6 inchers for tablet duty.

I agree but my z max pro has horrible memory load. Have more than one app open and everything has to reload. My free moto e4 can have over 6 apps open and remember right where I left off. I just gave my z max to my brother since he needed a phone that works on att and mine was unlocked. I do miss the screen, it was a really nice looking 1080p screen.

It looks decent on paper and sounds like value for the money, but the implementation is really bad. I have the unlocked Alcatel Idol Pop 4 or something like that from a Best Buy $50 Black Friday deal and it also had 16GB internal storage, problem is the UI was beyond bloated and out of the box you were left with available storage akin to an 8GB phone. What made matters worse, the chinese Alcatel UI would automatically update preloaded aps (which can not be uninstalled or even disabled) in the background and downloaded new ones (including 3rd party vendors!) without a single warning or even notification. For instance, the photo gallery became some huge chinese instagram wannabe and the file manager with time became one of those Cheetah-like swiss-army-knife app that was bigger than any google app. The final straw came when the UI introduced some idiotic spider on a web animation that would randomly pop up omn your home screen and prevent you from tapping any app for about a couple of minutes. You'd have to have a pretty sick frame of mind to think that thing looked cute on a phone. After the spider I decided to convert my Alcatel Idol Pop phone into a paperweight and vouched never to buy anything from them no matter how cheap it gets.

The ZTE ban was completely lifted on Friday but who knows if they'll bother to fix the bad Feb. update that crippled some of the V8s. It killed the WiFi battery life on one of my V8s so I made sure to not update my other one. I'd still go for a cheap V8 before this alcatel if ya don't mind being stuck on Marshmallow.

Good to know hadn't seen it was lifted. I have 2 as well both having wifi and cell signal issues after the Feb update.

NEVER buy a phone which has just 16GB ROM. The microSD is useless because all the apps will consume storage out of 16GB, not the microSD. All 16Gb will be gone with just basic apps and you won't left with any storage for other stuff you would want..
