American Airlines have round trip airfares travelling from San Francisco (SFO) to Sydney (SYD) for $746, making 1 stop or Melbourne (MEL) for $753, making 2 stops.

Travel Availability:

Departs SFO to SYD: Monday thru Thursday from July 26 thru Sept 11; Sept 17-20, 24; Oct 22-24, 29-31; Nov 1, 5-8, 12-14, 19-22, 26-27; Dec 4

Departs SFO to MEL: Aug 21, 28, 29; Sept 18

Returns: wide and good availability. Generally a 7-day stay works best but my sample shows a 10-day stay.

Use dates and book it with your favorite OTA such as Expedia [expedia.com], Travelocity [travelocity.com], Priceline [priceline.com]. Bundling hotel with airfare will save money.

Nice pricing but you really should be flying direct from SF to Sydney. The flight is long enough as is. Qantas code shares with American and definitely flies direct.

For $500 bucks more. This is really tempting at this price, even though I was in Cairns a couple of months ago.

This price has historically been a good price unless you snagged a mistake.
