Seems like there are also shipping charges. Add about $7.28 for that.

Osprey has great warranty on their bags. Fix your bag for any reason.

Steep and cheap is run by Backcountry. Sometimes with cashback % and free shipping the deals are better there.

Looks like the same items are all on sale at Backcountry, but they run a few dollars more. Two day shipping is applied on orders of $50 or more at Backcountry for those interested.

Of the two I've only ever owned Osprey bags, but both are extremely solid by all accounts. I've purchased Osprey because they have a lifetime warranty, and I've I rarely heard about anyone having to actually use it. In all likelihood you could buy one of either brand and it would be out of style long before you head to have it fixed or replaced.

I bought the Osprey Nebula in May for $83. It's a great backpack and I'm really happy with my purchase. This is my daily commuter pack and fits under the seat on the commuter bus. Has great support and sits on the hip to reduce weight off your shoulder. Has a laptop compartment that really works. I accidentally carried a laptop around because I didn't even notice the weight. It was a good price at $83. A much better price at $70ish with shipping.

The Osprey guarantee is awesome. They've fixed a pack of mine with no problem or charge at all (a Talon). I did have to ship it to them though on my dime, which I think is fair.

A friend had a problem with his Osprey Raptor after a couple of years, they shipped him a new one instead of fixing.

Got this backpack in full price from REI last year with no regret. Extremely versatile backpack. I used it for daily work commute with my laptop, flight travel, as well as all day hiking event with all my cameras, lens, drone, food and cloth in it!

I have many many outdoor and camera backpacks. But this one is my go-to backpack now, unless I want to go multi-days backpacking or 20+ miles day hike.

Looks nice but already pulled the trigger on the Osprey Farpoint deal from a few days ago. Nice looking bag though.

Neither is superior. Even among trekking brands they are considered pretty similar.

Osprey does appeal more to the American market, and Deuter to the German/European market.
Cosmetically and functionally. For example Deuter utilizes the rucksack Euro styling more. Likewise they are better for very Euro pursuits like cross country skiing or mountaineering.
Osprey is better for USA specific travel which is very plane based. Putting aside the fact their carry on regulations are different, European brands just don't care as much about things like maximizing space or having good dedicated electronics compartments.
That said they are pretty similar. I'd probably choose a deuter for trekking and an osprey for road trips
