A couple bucks cheaper than the lightning deal that got +5 on here. This should be good.

YouTube it. Looked at 5 and all were largely positive. Hopefully legit reviews as they are coming from hobbyists.

For these prices, don't expect professional-level drone features or good camera quality. But these are fantastic to learn on and mess around with. Great for teaching kids or beginners how to fly. They're cheap enough that you aren't too upset when you crash them. (Which WILL happen.)

I would be very impressed if a 6 yr old could fly one. I'm thinking 8-10 on the early side. But my kid is 5, so maybe there is a lot of hand eye coordination coming in the next 6 months before she turns 6.

My son will turn 7 in a few months, and he's been okay with flying X5C. You do have to fly in a BIG field and have him just land the quadcopter as soon as it gets away from his control. He hasn't quite gotten a hang of keeping the quadcopter in one spot, but he's learning

Don't have this X5UW, but do have X5C-1, X5CW4 custom built quad, a F-15 and a Parrot.

Never got into the X8. To me it was just a big toy that still had to be registered, carried more expensive batteries/parts, was less likely to survive well in crashes, couldn't be flown as easily in public areas and wasn't stabilized to use it's camera(s) for any real purpose.

My recommendation if someone wants a larger quad is just to leap frog up to the Parrot 1.
The X8 is not comparable. You can grab one for like $100 and it's in a totally different level with a stabilized camera and stabilized fuselage.

As far as the X5UW, it seems like a decent little flying quad, but I don't like the money grabbing cartridge battery design. I can put any battery I choose into my X5C-1 or X5CW4 (they use the same battery). I can even put in 750mahs batteries. This cartridge design limits the batteries you can buy and the sizes. Otherwise, it seems pretty well designed.
