Nikon F-mount 18-400mm f/3.5-6.3 Di II VC HLD from Tamron

Pretty decent lens to carry around so you don't have to switch lenses. I use this lens when going out with the kids; fits in my bag carrying all their stuff and mine. Also, use this with a Nikon D500 to carry to the amusement parks.

Tempting...How is this lens? Is it any better than a Canon 70-300?

This is very compact for what it does. I have the Tamron 150 X 600 and it's big, so it stays home most of the time. 18 X 400mm covers most every situation outdoors.

Seems pretty cool lens for a big coverage of focal lengths.
I just watched this YT video on it:

I think they are Grey Market lenses. It looks like there are many other items qualifying for the 20% points. I picked up a Sigma Art lens. Same seller - 6ave, Grey Market, priced well, and 20% points.

Has anyone owned the 18-200mm version of this lens for Canon? I'd like to know if you liked it and if you kept it or went with something different?

I bought the 18-400 a few months ago for my trip to Japan on my Nikon D5600. I had the 18-300mm nikon prior (1st gen) but it was way too heavy to travel with.

Regrettably I wish I got the Tamron 16-300 instead. The wide side would have been more useful than the long side. As some have mentioned, at the 400mm distance, it's quite challenging to avoid any camera shake handheld, even with VC activated. And the 16-300 is also 6oz lighter which helps when traveling on foot.

This lens has an additional $50 discount if you use the coupon SAVE20 during checkout. The final price comes down to $509.79 with no tax. Seems like a very good deal for this lens. Very tempting.
