The PT12 is $18.75. This is $0.50 less than last prime day.

I'm kinda surprised this hasn't gotten more traction. These are pretty popular instant reads with the BBQ crowd.

Yeah. I posted them about a year ago with little notice. Didn't even bother posting it here this year, though I did share on The Kettle Cookers (FB group for weber kettle heads).

I think people just recognize Thermapen. When I do charity cooks and make ~1000 sticks in a day, that's roughly 15 minutes my hand isn't held on top of a live fire cooking roadside chicken. Thermapen is totally worth it.

For the home cook it's hard to justify spending about $60 more for 1 second of time savings per stick. I might do 500 sticks a year in my home kitchen.

People know Thermapen as the best. They don't know the Lavatools Javelin.

For the home cook, this is a great deal. It's + ~$60 for shave 1 second off your read time with a Thermapen. Make 1000 sticks a day, and Thermapen saves roughly 15 minutes. Totally worth the extra money. But at home, I might make 500 sticks a year (and I do cook a lot).

Love this thermometer... highly recommend it. It's quicker to read and more accurate than anything I've ever used.

I agree with all the above commenters. For almost all home cooks this is by far the best value for an instant thermometer. While the thermapen is faster it is not noticeably faster during prolonged use. If rising from ambient or cooling from hot yes but when you are checking several points on the meat usually they are close in temperature. After a while you can almost guess what the "real" temperature. And as well all know conductive transfer relies on the temperature gradient so one can't truly know an ever changing temperature.

Talk about a niche product. How many people are ambidextrous?

I had to look it up, it just means designed for either right handers and left handers!

This is not the Javelin Pro. That one has a shorter probe and no all direction display.
