I've never understood what makes a router more suitable for gaming. Any good router, e.g. an Asus RT-AC68U or a Netgear Gigabit router, is completely capable to be used for gaming and all purpose applications. It's probably much more important to have a reliable, low-latency Internet service than anything else.

Seems like a bunch of marketing nonsense to me.

Great router, no issues with mine, love the 8 LAN ports. Have it set up with AiMesh with a 68u

If you don't need the extra LAN ports and theoretical slightly faster network speeds,the 86u ("lower model number but newer) from asus may be a better router to keep an eye out for. Faster processor and newer hardware design.
