I bought one earlier this year when they were $120. I can see why people like the wildside jar better. I find it has a hard time mixing smoothies. Adding some water or using a utensil to give a small push usually helps. The motor has plenty power but sometimes the jar just struggles to pull down spinach/kale and ice into the mixer. Only downside I see with the blender.

Get a vitamix instead. These suck I've used both in professional kitchens.

Bestbuy has the designer series 650 for $299, not sure if it's a better deal as it comes with the wild side jar.

I bought this on December 22nd for $159.99
My parents have a Vitamix.
We compared them side by side making smoothies.
The smoothies turned out exactly the same.
The only difference is the Blendtec is louder.

I purchased one a while back during Costco roadshow. Even with wildjar, I always had to cut apples and any even cucumber because Blendtec struggles - the blade design can't cut. By the time you add water or use tamper, the smoothie is juice or warm soup. I've had issues with frozen strawberry causing the thing to get stuck.

Returned it for Vitamix. Never looked back. It tears through anything.

One problem I have had with my Blendtec, and that isn't covered by any useful warranty, is the quality of the gaskets which protect the bearing mechanism that drives the blade. One failed after ~1000 uses, but luckily I'd gotten a second on deep sale many years ago. They pretty much never go on sale anymore, though, and go for ~$100 for some molded polycarbonate, bearings, and a piece of steel. Not sure how Vitamix compares in carafe longevity.

No they don't suck. I have used both too, along with pro grade Hamilton Beach models.
