If you need a good camera I'd stay away from essential. But if not the essential is a solid phone. I had it and loved everything about it except the camera. Traded up to the pixel 2 xl and now love the camera but do miss the first factor and premium feel of the essential....and the awesome screen.

edit:I don't know how the G6 camera is so it may be a crapshoot between the two

The Essential phone wins hands down over this. Not that the G6 isn't a good phone, just price for spec, the Essential beats in on all fronts with the exception of the camera and I don't know if the G6 has a great one either.

Bought 2 of these today for the wife and I. The G6 is a good mix of good options and affordability. It isn't as good as a flagship phone like Galaxy S9, but it doesn't cost $800 either. It's $260.

This prime day version has extra memory (64 gb vs 32 gb) and extra RAM (4 gb vs 3 gb) compared to the regular Moto G6.

I think it's a really good phone that cuts costs from a flagship at a lot of the right places. I don't need to record video in 4K or shoot professional quality pics.

Return and go for the essential, tat is a flagship spec phone, with more update than any phone
