I briefly tried the Studio 3's at Target; since i'm no audiophile, the audio quality sounded the same. The noise cancellation, however, was definitely not as good as Sony's nor Bose's.

Also, after reading many many reviews, anything Beats does not compare when you are looking for quality and comfort. Style and audio, of course, is subjective.

I have tried both (and own the Sony 1000) and the Sony's sound quality is a league above. However, I paid over $300 for the Sony when it first came out, so $182 is a very good deal, albeit not brand new.
