I actually think the ecobee 3 > ecobee 4. Built in Alexa is dumb. If you want to use Alexa, you already have dots/echos. This just adds size and complexity.

edit: but this isn't really a deal. Costco had the same thing for 20% less a week or two ago.

Search isnt bringing up any such deal for the same at 20% less. Link?

edit: camelx3 says this has been at $219 until yesterday (prime day 1) when they jacked it up to $289. So this is really just a $20 discount.

I bought the ecobee 3 thru Costco a few weeks ago for $160. I need the upstairs to have in room sensors as the control unit was in the hall way and was reading hot all summer. This system has really helped keep the rooms an even 70.

I've been waiting for these to come on deal and missed the Costco deal at $160... what price point should I be looking for?

Also - really looking for a thermostat that utilizes additional sensors... is this my best option for that over the nest?

I just looked at the reviews and input from SDers on the Costco deal. I don't have Alexa or Google home so that is not an issue for me. I had an electrician who was finishing a job for me install it. He did it wrong and it wasn't cooling. I called ecobee and had to rewire it (soccer mom here !). They held my hand and walked me thru it in 10 minutes. I can control it from my phone with the app if I like. So far is doing exactly what I wanted it to do, No complaints but I know I have Costco's return policy if I do.

I just got the Ecobee 4 for $80 through my electric company last month. Doesn't seem like a good deal for the 3.

I have an unopened Ecobee3 I was going to sell for way less than $200 😂

That is because the power company is subsidizing the cost, which unfortunately isn't available everywhere.

I purchased the thermostat through this deal as I figured why wait over a $30 discount at another time. Got it all set-up, only to realize my A/C was blowing hot air. Called customer support similar to you, sent them pictures of my before and after set-up and they fixed the issue for me in 10 minutes. Great customer service.
