12/31/18...? So it's only 5 months of free data...?

The cheaper Chromebooks are a far better deal for those needing simplicity (which is most consumers who are in this market). Sure, this may be more flexible because it has Windows 10, but the Chromebooks $100-200 cheaper will have a better build quality and run a lot more smoothly.

The benefit is right there in the title, always connected internet. Something nearly every Chromebook lacks.

Windows 10 S supports all x86 (32-bit) apps via emulation which gives you a huge catalog of real desktop programs, not mobile Android apps that don't work on Desktop.

This is a real PC. This doesn't have any Google Spyware. Support won't be dropped after 5 years. It's not glorified internet browser.

Chromebooks $100-200 cheaper also have tiny 11" screens and Google won't guarantee support after 5 years (assuming they even certify for Play Store). Most CBs in the price range lack touch screens, ports, and always-on internet.

No comparison to the full PC experience you're getting here. These units run x86 (32bit) apps via emulation. It's a full PC with all the benefits of a CB (instant-on, all-day battery). Plus, Microsoft will actually support it long-term.

The vast majority of CBs end up on eBay because they're not supported anymore.

Best Feature: No Google Spyware

I was genuinely outraged the first time I saw how many microsoft processes use data to dial back home.... Those talking to msn servers constantly.
There are advantages to these laptops, if I needed connectivity out there without wifi access. letting people who genuinely may not know what microsoft does.

Lol at thinking Microsoft is looking out for you more than Google. Chrome OS is so much more secure than Windows it's frankly stupid.

Google's business model is collecting customer data to sell unsolicited advertising. Microsoft's business model is selling software licenses. If MS were hacked, nothing would of value would be stolen, but if Google were hacked you lose everything. Not a gamble worth taking.
