Pretty good price for this model if you're looking for an upgrade/better version of the Instant Pot Duo with all the fancy bells and whistles on the Ultra. Otherwise, if you just want the basic elements of the instant pot mind as well wait for the duo to go on sale again.
If you purchase something through a post on our site, Slickdeals may get a small share of the sale.

"I used the Ultra as my daily driver for a few months. I got comfortable enough with the interface that I did not overshoot too often, or turn clockwise when I needed to go counter-clockwise. It was fine. But, after finishing this review, I switched back to my Instant Pot Duo Plus.

Why get an Ultra? The auto-locking lid is fantastic, and almost enough for me to stick with the Ultra. The Ultra looks pretty – the large digital display, no-button interface, and shiny silver knob are more stylish than the button-covered Duo Plus. If you're the kind of person who has to have the newest and most expensive, this is the top of the line for Instant Pot. It's 10-in-1, and that's one better than 9-in-1, so it must be better. (I own 6…no, 7 pressure cookers right now, so I have no room to judge your buying decisions.) Underneath it all, it is an Instant Pot and a very good pressure cooker. If it is your only pressure cooker, you won't regret owning it.

But the Instant Pot Duo Plus is back to being my daily driver. I miss the fancy display a little, and the auto-locking lid a lot. (A whole lot.) I traded them both to go back to the reliable push-buttons on my Duo Plus."

Seems like a good discount but is this one worth it over the Duo that can be sub $100 for the 8 qt?

As someone with both, I disagree. The ultra mode allowing mock sous vide is well worth the price difference to me. I barely break out my actual sous vide appliances now thanks to this and a food thermometer.

can you help me understand this one? I have a standard 6qt instant pot and tried to slip my thermometer probe in there for testing, but the probe wire, flat as it was, wouldn't actually allow the pot to seal.

Snagged a used like new Duo 8qt for $68. Anybody have experience with both that would justify twice the price for this one?

You don't need pressure for sous vide, so the lid doesn't need to seal. The ultra has a mode that allows "temperature hold" and while the number you set on the display isn't accurate to the temperature of the contents, it's stable. So you use the thermometer to find the offset from displayed vs actual temp adjust the setting accordingly. Not true set it and forget it sous vide, but good enough for 90+% of this game I cook that way.

What accessories would you all suggest to get with the Instant Pot? I'm a 1st time user.
