Amazon Tap - brand new $60 + free shipping (ebay)

Brand new Amazon Tap for $60 -- cheapest price I've seen. Follow link below. This previously sold for $130 new on Amazon, and currently goes for $84.99 on Best Buy.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Amazon-T...0#viTabs_0

Default "Buy it now" price is $61.99. However seller will auto-accept a 'Best Offer' of $60. I tried $58 and $59 as well and was auto-rejected. You may be able to get it somewhere between $59.01-$59.99.

Sells for $84.99 on Best Buy (clearance price):

Amazon only sells refurbished for $69.99 as product has been discontinued:

Great reviews for this (4/5 stars on 8,500+ reviews), but Amazon has decided to discontinue it. Never thought much of it until last weekend. A friend of mine had one. Very impressed with the sound quality - comes close to the full size Echo, while being slimmer. The best feature, however, is that it's rechargeable and can last up to 9 hours with no electricity. Perfect for the lake, camping, etc. You can also connect to it from your phone/device via bluetooth, or use an aux cable for input.. Originally the Tap was designed to respond only when pressed (unlike other Echo products). This was to address concerns of the Echo 'always listening' mic. Since then, a software update has enabled the 'always on/always listening' option so that it functions like the other Echos (no need to press the button). There are external batteries that work with full size Echo but, factoring in the price of the Echo + the external battery, the Amazon Tap seems like the the better way to go. Overall, this is an awesome device -- too bad Amazon discontinued it.

Amazon description below:
Just tap and ask for music from Amazon Music, Spotify, Pandora, iHeartRadio, and TuneIn. Enable hands-free mode to control music and more from a distance.
Uses the Alexa Voice Service when connected to Wi-Fi or a mobile hotspot to play music, read the news, provide weather reports, and even order a pizza
Provides up to 9 hours of continuous playback (up to 8 hours when in hands-free mode), Charging Cradle included
Streams all your music via Bluetooth from your phone or tablet
Delivers crisp sound powered by Dolby, with dual stereo speakers that provide 360º omni-directional audio
Always getting smarter and adding new features and skills

Expect 5 hours of continuous playback on max volume. I use this on my all day bike rides and it consistently dies around hr 5.

I second this comment. It's an absolute piece of junk! Buy an echo or echo dot instead.

How is it junk? It's a pretty damn good Bluetooth speaker and works the same as Echo/Echo Dot, except it's portable. I've been using mine since release and love taking it outside to play music through Spotify while I work in the yard.

Echo = slightly better sound quality (a little more expensive tho). Echo dot = cheaper but poor sound. I have both so more or less unbiased. Tap has the same functionality as both but is also portable (no extra battery or charger necessary), allows bluetooth input, etc. Overall I would choose it over any other Echo at this price range.

Couldn't agree more. Yard and in the garage when working on projects or the cars.

+1 Same. It's such an underrated product. Just got a bad reputation when it initially released since you couldn't activate it by just saying "Alexa". You had to originally physically touch it to activate it.

Agree...I wouldn't say it's Junk..Portability without having to Plug it in is why this one stands out and you can turn off the listen and put to tap to ask. The Darn Echoes all always popping on and recording your every sound & when you turn it off Listen, you have that Irratating Light ring keeping you up, unless you want to unplug every time! This works for me! Applause

Can you activate and control this tap speaker using voice now?

How do you bike ride with this, doesn't it need WiFi? I assume you use your cell phone as a hotspot? Why not just use the Amazon music app at that point?

As a blue tooth speaker I like idea of being portable, but at $60 for a Amazon multifunction product I think it's expensive....lots of quality Bluetooth speakers for sub $30 - and no I don't have a link and no I didn't do a comparison of quality vs competitors, just saying $60 is a lot for a Bluetooth speaker that connects to Amazon.
