It's direct from Acer which in my experience means like new.

YMMV but I've had good luck with the Acer Recertified Store.

Caution! Acer Recertified Store: 78% positive in the last 12 months (753 ratings). Only 78% positive is a horrible track record. It means almost 1 out of 4 customers are unhappy with their purchase.

They're refurbs. I would expect people to complain more. It's what they complain about is what matters.

Exactly. And most people buy Acer refurbished items through their eBay store where they have a 98.3% positive rating on 40500 feedback. I've also personally bought about a half-dozen devices from them and have always been happy with the conditions I received them in. Customer service was also pretty helpful the one time I had a problem.

This is a 2017. A newer Acer Chromebook 15 was just released in July 2018. Minor cosmetic difference- I think internal specs may be the sam. I'mpassing on it in anticipation of of CB13. Saw it in person at BB and it was too big for my needs.

I have the previous gen "big core" version of the 15" Chromebook (Intel Celeron 1.5GHz) refurb from Acer ebay store. Works like a charm, battery life is just okay but I'm comparing to a 11.6" lower res Chromebook and that's not exactly fair. The larger screen definitely eats up more battery but it's enough to last you 5-6 hours unless you max out the brightness. The touchpad is fairly low quality on previous gen, hopefully this one is better.

Note this is the "small core" N4200, yes it's fast enough but for anyone like me that likes the overall "big core" performance from Skylake, even though its a Celeron SKU, just take note.

So, by your thought process on that must mean you also think they only sold 753 recertified units in the last year. Like most learn in school, "think before you speak." Some people, even though they should think it through also, will take your statement at face value and not purchase which isn't fair to the consumer or the manufacturer.

I have one of these. Purchased refurbished at 278 price point. Battery life is consistently 10 hours on 70 percent brightness. At 50 percent I get 11 to 12. It's a big upgrade to the previous model in most every way

Don't forget about the Google spyware. Don't waste your money when Google drops support after less than 5 years.
If a 220 dollar chromebook last me 5 years, I would say I received my money's worth. That would come out to $3.66 a month. I'm sure most everyone here would be looking to upgrade well before then regardless.
