Just bought one on the last deal but tempted to buy another for no real reason. Can someone please convince me why I need more than one?

I find 5 ports on the slightly small side. 8 port is a better size. I have too many devices

You're going to want to start installing them in friend's and family's homes...

Use it as smaller managed switches? As said, friends and family should just have these so you can keep all the muggles up to date and with proper security rules. Might need a backup, what if the one you are using in the unlikely event stops working, or someone smashes it, you might need an extra one handy.

Just pick up a switch. Ideal setup is only going to have 1 line from modem to router, one line from router to switch (maybe an additional line from router to Access Point).

Something like the GS108Ev3 gives you managed options but is still simple enough to use without any experience (by default it acts like a dumb switch). Or you can just get an 8-port dumb switch for ~$10+.

Thanks to OP, was about to buy one of these for $50 to go with a new AP.

Why not just get a seperate POE switch and hook it up to this?

These things still confuse me. I currently have 3 TP Link boxes like these in my home for each tv area to plug in the devices we use. Also one in my office area. And of course ATT uses a netgear switch to route the internet to the different rooms.

How would one of these or could one of these help out my situation ? I run att 1000 also.

It should be known that Newegg, and the third parties that I've seen sell the UBNT gear, are not authorized resellers. Therefore, know that you will not be getting any type of support from UBNT should something go wrong.

Could anyone please point me to the resource that explains why such a router could be useful in a household setting? I constantly observe great enthusiasm around SD for those routers but I just fail to understand the value prop.
