I'm not so sure the word strong and 99 cents go together...

Bought 3 and picked up this morning. I debated returning them on the spot after taking a look. The first one has a reasonable cutting alignment on maybe 60-70%. The other two are better, but this design is supposed to have the sharpened edges on both side come together, and the alignment of the sharpening is pretty poor on all of them. I figure I'll try out the worst one, and if it can cut a zip tie them I'll keep them. Otherwise put in the car and return next time I'm by Fry's. For $3...whatever.

These look similar to dollar store ones to begin with.

Thanks, that's a great price! These go for about $5-20 depending on the brand. Can use these to cut anything from wires to weed-eater string to rope. I bought three, and shipping was only $3, 4 or more and the shipping went up to $9-10 (to FL).

The Dollar Tree wire cutters are a pretty tiny 5", while these are a more normal sized 6.5"

You might want to look at other Fry's stuff like their Cuisinart steak knives for $9.99 to reach free shipping

I usually tack on FAR software like McAfee - unfortunately they're sold out for shipping

That's why I invest in a Craftsman, something they'll replace if damaged, for life, or until Sears goes totally under.

my father taught me, cheap tools cost more than you can imagine. I still have my original Craftsman tools from autoshop, many many moons ago

Try knipex diagonal cutters. Best cutters ever. They can cut almost anything even 1/8" 7x19 cable with ease and 5/32" and there not even actual cable cutters. Go anywhere from 25-40 on eBay.

EDIT: Steel cable
