It looks like you can updgrade to 2.5 Sata drive according to crucial, but the reviews are horrible.

This is probably not the laptop you want. Someone please correct if I am mistaken about this model.

I'm sure it and similarly deficient models are purchased in great numbers by those wanting something cheap. Expect difficulties. 32GB is much too small; not worth the effort. Dell should be ashamed.

I cannot tell if this model has addressed the deficiencies. But if it is like the 3452 I got for travelling, the eMMC is soldered, and the sata connection is missing. I work around part of that limitation by keeping a 64gb microSD card with a flush adapter in the sd card slot. But it is slow -- shows Realtek USB 2.0 Card Reader (in Device Manager). And with 8gb ram, I have set virtual memory paging file size to zero.

Maintaining this deficient laptop is a challenge. It took hours and overnight and more to get windows updated. Even with a fast USB 3.0 drive for windows to use (after failing...), I had to uninstall several programs to free up enough room.

If it's like the one I bought for vacation it is exactly the same. Mine is a 2 in 1 inspiron 3000(model is 3185). 32gb is a no go if you want it for something other than browsing and watching things. Mine has an AMD a6-9220e though; I believe performance is quite similar.

Tldr; if like mine, sata port is missing, and 32gb is too small after updates, and updates literally took overnight(not sure how long, but the emmc is SUPERSLOW)

Avoid it if you can. Cheap tablet can run faster than this thing. I bought this during the last labor day deal thinking I will be able to upgrade storage and memory. You can upgrade RAM but not storage as its soldered to the motherboard. Plus it lacks processing power. Slower than snail in your lawn. Windows will fill that emmc with all the updates and then you have a 175$ laptop which is pretty much useless. I would strongly recommend not to waste money on this one.

The emmc isn't actually that slow. Much faster than a spinner at 4k read/writes and about 110mbps sequential. Which is slow, but much faster than a spinner at booting and loading programs.
The main problem is the 32GB storage. Windows 10 can not update. Even if you disable page file, hibernation file, Uninstaller programs, disk cleanup etc. You either need a spare usb3 drive for it to work with, or need to clean install to latest win 10 (which you'd have to do again when next big update comes out). And the spare USB drive method is slooow, took over 8 hours.

Instead I installed windows 7 on mine. I had to hack some drivers (AMD video) and it was a pain in the ass, but it is MUCH faster. I have the 3180 (non 2 in 1 but same amd apu) and also undervolted it with AmdMsrTweaker. It undervolts very well, I was able to lower by around 140mv. This stops the constant throttling and my CPUmark is 2100, more than fast enough for web browsing. It will still throttle if under constant load like prime 95 or encoding, but that isn't what it's made for. It no longer throttles just opening a web browser and can get through passmark without throttling. If I could find a way to increase the TDP limit from 6w I could stop the throttling entirely, but considering my notebook is passively cooled with no vents and made of plastic, not a good idea.

If you want the AmdMsrTweaker settings I use I can send them.
