How's the HDR on this one? Get this or spring for the 2018 TCL? I currently have Samsung UN48JU6700 48" curved 4K TV. I want something with HDR support. Any of these two TVs will have better or similar quality? Or am I better off spending money on higher end Samsung or Sony?

I returned 2 r615's due to banding and dirty screen effect. I would recommend anything else! Good luck!

get the TLC. It's pretty outstanding value for the money. Best bang for your buck imho!

I have a TCL and right after the warranty want out by a week the screen turned dark on one side. I called in did everything they asked and the got an email saying sorry can't help you warranty. They would not fix it because of a week. Now every once in a while it shows like the day I took it out the box then it will go dark on the left side again.

I think it's just the luck of the draw with some of these cheaper TVs. I have a hisense (I believe H8d series?) and it works great so far (had it for 6 or 8-ish months). HDR isn't perfect, but vibrant. It has some contrast settings but it isn't OLED nor does it have many lighting zones. However, the active contrast (?) setting helps darken darks, somehow.

My gripe with my curved Samsung is the viewing angles from the side are atrocious. No surprises curved screen and all. Colors are great and vibrant. So maybe I'll hold off till R617 goes on sale again

I just got the h6 series last week for $350, it is worth to get this one for the extra $20 over the h6 series? I was reading and I think the only difference is that the h8 series have local dimming, that really makes a big difference?

I've read that H6 has very week backlight for HDR and this model addresses that. Hopefully this deal will be good through the weekend

If you purchased with a credit card they usually extend the warranty an additional year.

Anyone know how many local dimming zones are on this? Can't find the details for the life of me.
