Haggle at Best Buy --open box item?

Can you haggle the price of an open box item at bestbuy? if so, do you have to speak to a store manager?

Let's say I saw a washing machine w a NIB price of 649 and they have a floor unit on sale for 551 --what kind of deal can i work out?

I'm a terrible negotiator and would love some advice.

A few years ago, depending on the associate and store manager (and if you weren't a jackass) to sometimes get an additional discount on an open box item. It also depended on if that item was a hot seller or not (less likely if the product was moving that it would be sold at the open box price anyway).

However, in recent months Best Buy has been more firm on the stated open box pricing and it's allowing the store manager to have pricing flexibility Open Box pricing is now set at the lowest value allowed by the system. If the item you are looking at does go on sale, the Open Box prices is typically reduced further as a result (by will also go up after the new items returns to its non-sale price).

Despite all this, if the washing machine is an older model and has been sitting there a while, you can always ask as the unit takes up floor space.

Talk to a manager and ask nicely if there is any additional discount. In my experience the larger ticket items do have some wiggle room. The worse they can say is no and you walk away. If it doesn't sell, they'll have to discount it further to offload it.

View the openbox pricetag
Look for the date which the item was priced.
If the store is correctly pricing its open box items correctly then every 7 days they are suppose to drop the price an additional 10%.
You may find an open item priced on 4-10-2018 at 99 dollars. This item could be priced down several times 10% x each week that has passed. Doesn't need to be a manager either. Any store associate who isn't a newb can discount the item. But good luck finding one who knows the policy .

Also, if you offer to buy the extended warranty that would easily get you a bigger discount. The associate wants that extended warranty sale under his name.
