Is Autoslash.com still the best site to find the best price on car rentals?

I've used Autoslash.com for about 8 years and have liked it. But in the past couple years they keep changing how it works. It use to be where they would just tell you the best codes to use, then they hooked up with Priceline to book (therefore receiving a commission from Priceline), and now I see that they allow booking through their site. Therefore it doesn't seem like it's in their best interest to give us the best deal (since they get a commission on the booking).

Any other sites out there that will give good discount codes and track rental looking for better deals?

Thank you.

iirc, the dude started out here...i mean like, this was when he was a one-man operation and before he got famous. (much like the points guy). i used him when he first started out, told our sd staff about him, they used him...it was awesome. we all kept getting lower and lower rates.

car rental companies shut him down for a little bit and when he finally went back online, i stopped because i can no longer get the original method of finding a car rental deal that works. these days, i enter a location and rental dates and only get one rate. the same rate i can get everywhere else.

since then my go-to car rental place is costco.

autoslash, if you're reading this, feel free to reach out to me and tell me what went wrong. i was a supporter.

I have done a couple of good bookings through zalyn.com like a full size with Alamo in May for $190 for 10 days in Seattle and a 7 day in UK with Avis for $150 for an economy for next March. I always book something I can cancel and as far in advance as possible.

They're basically dead, at least in the form they were that was beneficial to all of us. They like to act like they're still around but the autoslash many of us remember fondly is no more.

As serra said Costco is pretty good as is carrentalsavers.com. The downside is that you have to constantly check and see if the rates drop every day. I usually just book whatever is cheapest now to make sure I have something and then check seemingly every day hoping the price drops. If it does I cancel and rebook at the lower rate. Autoslash used to do that for you automatically which was amazing but the rental car companies I can imagine weren't fans of theirs for doing that!

Wished there was a better way to get these discounts. Not paying $500 for two weeks when I used to pay half that. Need to allow spouse to drive also so that eliminates half the darn companies. So sad.

Costco is my usual go to, since I get the second driver free, but I also found that carrental8.com has worked wonders on cheap rentals as well.

And since they won't tell you what rental company you're being booked with until confirmed, if you need second driver for free, carrental8 doesn't help.

I've also used Autoslash for the past 6 years. I used the site for our Orlando vacation in October of 2017. Got a great deal on a mini van. (We always rent a mini van) I found that when you use the site a few months before your trip, you would get the best price from multiple agencies. I would wind up switching my first selection (multiple times) when the site finds a better price.

We recently joined Costco but I will compare their rates the next time we plan a vacation. Thanks for the tip!!

I heard about autoslash just recently and made a reservation for a mini van yesterday. What would have costed me 500 to 750 for a 4 day rental cost me 370 (booked via autoslash directly).

All I can say is, I got the best deal (that I know of) with Autoslash.
