NORD VPN EMPLOYEE OR NORD USER RESPONSE NEEDED: I really want to make the switch.

I've been wanting to ditch PIA because they brought in a high level executive who was involved in some very shady stuff regarding crypto at Mt. Gox exchange. It is bewildering to me that a VPN company wouldn't hire someone squeaky clean, considering that as consumers we use our purchasing power to seek TRUSTED companies that protect your privacy.

There is so much BLIND TRUST as a consumer who cares about online privacy. One second a cheap VPN company will promise they keep no logs...next thing you know they are hit with a court order (depending on region), and they flake out to protect themselves as a company at the expense of the VPN customers, who essentially, didn't get what they paid for.

I'm kicking myself in the head now because I used a personal email address and normal payment method linking to my identity when I first joined PIA 3-4 years ago.

I know that NORD VPN offers a good service, so I have been looking to make the change. They promote their deals on SlickDeals so if a customer service rep/digital marketer could chime in I can guarantee you for ~$30/year I will stick with Nord VPN for years to come. I'm sure I'm not the only one dissatisfied with their current provider.

I just have a few concerns/questions.

1) Concern: I want to start fresh with a new VPN company that will have difficulty linking back to me, personally. The $29.99 deal is for bestbuy.com account only. How can I make a Best Buy purchase on their website without my identity being traceable? It seems like as long as BestBuy is exchanging activation codes as a 3rd party I wouldn't have an issue.

If premise 1 and 2 or good by me I'm excited to jump on this deal.

1) Does BESTBUY/Nord VPN link the access code to the BestBuy account holder? I'm guessing Best Buy Online does not accept Bitcoin. Since it's an online digital code I cannot go into the store and pay cash, otherwise the price has a 100% increase.

2) How long can I hold on to the access code before utilizing it. I still have 7 months to go on my current PIA subscription. If I could buy a code now and hold on until I need it, and remain anonymous. I'm sold!

I have little to nothing to hide, other than the fact that I worked in digital marketing for a few years and could not live with myself. All of the tracking and highly-targeted ads can benefit a business with a high ROAS, but I felt like a sleaze ball. Nobody likes meeting a digital marketer. So much shady and borderline unethical/creepy business concepts are common practice. The average internet user has no idea what could potentially be used against them, whether they are a priest or a cartel member. Everyone deserves privacy.

If you're concerned about the privacy of BestBuy being a third party, why not just buy the 3 years for $99 straight from Nord?

Does anyone in California use this? I tried it once in the past but it seemed to have dropped my connection speed to nearly half. I was getting 180Mbps DL speed and 12Mbps UP down to 80~90Mbps DL and 5~6 UP. Had to do a refund because Netflix took over 30 seconds to load a video! A video that constantly buffers as well for some reason since even with 80~90Mbps DL it should be enough but it wasn't.

Not sure if that's changed by now but that was my experience.

I use Nord, only when I get ready to download...something...then I turn it off, I'm just avoiding angry letters from my provider. It cuts my DL speed by half, but I can wait 30 minutes for a download in privacy rather than 10-15 normally.

I suggest people try Windscribe for free, then decide whether to get the lifetime subscription for $60. I have been a happy Windscribe customer for about a half year. Fast and reliable. Highly recommend.
Nord beats WS out of the park, but nonetheless I got in on the Windscribe lifetime deal for $29, so no complaints.

None. Lots of VPN providers have servers in India/Phillippines, but none of them satisfactory. Over the past quarter, I have given every top name in the VPN industry a try and DL speeds are in the range of 1-3 Mbps which is causing severe buffering. No HD streams possible. Plus Amazon has tons of video content in India, but is actively blocking all the known names, so it eventually becomes pointless. TBH, I have got the promised refunds from everyone, but India is not a priority for any VPN provider at the moment and that's a huge gap personally. ExpressVPN was the only one that reached 5-10 Mbps DL but it was pretty erratic, so finally had to cancel that too.
