Asus Zenfone 5Q (5 Lite ZC600KL) $269.99

$269.99
+17 Deal Score

Marked down $30 from MSRP of $299.99. Don't know for how long (has been since Sunday, so I presume it is a whole week thing).

Hot deal? No, but it is lukewarm, especially for those on T-Mobile looking for a decent unlocked phone that has Band 12 (it is really sh*tty that the flagship of this phone, the 5Z, does not support Band 12, not to mention that it has the USB C connector).

Pros?
  • Cheap.
  • 4 cameras, 2 of which are wide-FOV cameras (back and front)
  • selfie flash
  • FM Radio
  • Includes 3.5 mm headphone jack
  • Dual SIM plus dedicated MicroSD slot (not a shared slot)
  • Aluminum build
  • Band 12 support for T-Mobile
Cons:
  • Not flagship. SD630 processor (which does hold its own, but it isn't one of the SD8xxx)
  • No OIS on cameras.
  • MicroUSB (not USB C)
  • Bluetooth 4.2 (for those who care)
  • Camera is high spec, but reviews are lukewarm on youtube.
  • Comes with Android 7.1 out of the box. Asus has promised 8.0 upgrade soon.
  • No notch (for those who care)

Specs:
6.0" IPS 1080p screen
Snapdragon 630 & Adreno 508 GPU
64GB storage
4GB RAM
Android 7.1 out of the box
16 mp primary camera & 13 mp 120° wide FOV camera
20 mp selfie camera & (unknown mp) 120° wide FOV camera
microSD card slot
NFC
Wi-Fi AC
3.5 mm headphone jack
FM Radio
MicroUSB 2.0
Fingerprint
3300 mAh battery

Edit:
You can save another $16.25 if you do the Cricket Wireless promotion.
https://www.bestbuy.com/site/offe...7381543654

Buy an unlocked phone with a SIM and a pre-paid card and get $50 off. This phone qualifies. The SIM is $9.99, the cheapest pre-paid card is a $25 card currently priced at $23.75. $50 - $9.99 - $23.75 = $16.26. The phone then becomes $253.73 less whatever you can get for the Cricket card/sim on eBay.

Edit 2:
With the Cricket SIM and $25 (for $23.75) refill card you come out to $253.73 before tax. Tax in my state (VA) is 6%, which would be levied on the $269.99 price. After tax for me, with the cricket deal, would be $269.92. Add in $30.08 more somewhere and you can use the AMEX $30 off $300 deal (if you have it) to sweeten it some more. Depending on where you are, it would be more or less than $30.08. Just do the math and figure it out for your area:
$300 - $50 - $23.75 - $9.99 - ($269.99 + tax on $269.99)

T-Mobile must not think it is all that important? They sell 23 phones of which only 5 support Band 66 (according to GSMArena)...SGS9, SGS9+, LG Stylo 4, LG K30, and LG Aristo 2.

Band 66 uses part of Band 4. https://www.phonescoop.com/glossa...hp?gid=570

The main bands still remain 2 and 4 with band 12 being ancillary. 66 and 71 have been added to increase spectrum, but aren't typically as important as 2, 4, and 12 yet.

In addition to that, T-mobile uses band 5 for roaming LTE and band 5 is included on the 5Q.

If not, just use DIGITS app as needed.

Was going to get this but it still being on 7.1 shows how much support this phone is going to get. It's a joke considering the other Zenfone 5/5z are on Oreo. He's hoping the Nokia x6 is here soon.

That might be true for your area, but doesn't necessarily apply everywhere.
