Woot has another great deal on Saucony Running shoes at $40. The selection includes the Ride 10, Omni 16, and some others. This is an amazing deal on some quality running shoes that typically sell for over $100.

Has anyone who normally runs in guides tried rides? Guides don't go on sale as often in my experience and I am due for a new pair.

I purchased the Omni 16's back in June and I've practically worn a hole in the bottom of them and that's just from walking. I'd like walking shoes to hold up for longer than a month. Are Saucony's just not for me?

Ive run in both - the Guide is a stiffer shoe and is designed to provide stability if you are an overpronator. The Ride feels cushier, but also demands proper foot strike if you want to avoid injury.

Many people who think they need stability shoes actually do not, but that's meaningless advice without knowledge of your running habits, stride, etc. The best way to find out is to get evaluated by a coach or reputable running store (the latter is free). The polite thing to do would be to buy your next pair from them as a thank you, but if you are really hard up for cash, you can always get evaluated and then say you need time to think about it when they try to close the sale.

Thanks for the reply, what you said lines up with what others have said. I don't trust my stride, and I know that shoes that don't provide enough support aggravate my plantar fascia. Not worth the risk to change.

I did exactly what you suggested about three years ago and bought the shoes there because they spent almost an hour with me. I think I'll just start buying at least two pairs at a time whenever guides go on sale.

bigtimer75,

I have had several pairs of Saucony Rides and all have gone several hundred running miles and showed very little wear after they retied from running. Even after 500 and some odd miles of running and then several months of duty a random wearing like yard work and such, I have never seen a pair lose any significant tread on the sole.

I am guessing you may have gotten a bad pair. But I am also guessing that you will not want to shell out the bucks for another pair to find out, so maybe contact Saucony? Good luck.

I was going to try the ISO running with the durable outsole but I missed them in my size.

I scrape my feet when I walk and all my walking shoes wear in the same place but the previous ones wore particularly fast.
