The KEF Q100 small bookshelf speakers features a 5.25" Uni-Q driver w/ a 1" vented dome tweeter. Great to accommodate a home theater setup, and compact enough for even the modest listening room - Discombobulated

My first post so please forgive if this has been posted before or isn't a great price (I did check a price tracking website before posting here). They're KEF and at an incredible price.

This is the forgotten speaker deal because it's been ongoing (on and off) for years now. 1st at $350, then $300, and now $250. These were considered great speakers at $350, and got positive reviews at their listed price of $600 or so. Many other speakers have joined the sub $300 price point since then, but these still shine, and are very popular for a reason. Unless they changed something, these are still arguably the best speaker pair you can get for for under $300.

I have no trouble recommending them if someone is looking to upgrade from say... their Pioneer's, or as their 1st speakers because they do HT, and music well IMO. Their only weakness is low bass, but some will be fine with it. Other's will want a sub, and that's what I'd recommend either way.

The biggest problem is that unless you listen to them, you won't know for sure if you would like them, or not. They can sound bright to some. Not Klipsch bright, but they have noticeable highs, and mids. So see if you can audition them 1st. I know not many stores stock them at this point.

If you end up liking them, you could buy 1 or 2 more pairs, and make decent home theater system by using one as center speaker, and selling the extra for $100. The center is expensive unless you get lucky used. Could happen as people upgrade. Even just 3 for the fronts, and cheaper speakers in the rears will work. Most any HT receiver can power them. Then add the best sub(s) you can, and it would cost quite a bit to get noticeably better sound.

I run these in a 5:1 setup with a svs pc-2000. For my first home theater setup, I have been super impressed!

You could redirect this to say that all colors are also $249 from Kef Direct right now. That's a deal that isn't always on: https://www.kefdirect.com/q100-bo...-pair.html

I purchased two pairs of these and use them in a LCR setup. They are great. Highly recommended for the price.

Haha, when it arrived, my wife was like, "it looked so much smaller in the pictures". But she let me keep it, so it was a win!

Would you recommend these over the Pioneer Atmos Andrew Jones speakers on SD?

Yes, and no. You'd need ideal conditions for ATMOS to work well (with these bounce off the ceiling speakers), but there are 2 versions. The base BS22's, and the elite version. I've been wanting to hear the elite version, but my gut tells me that even though they got great reviews, the Kefs are better speakers. Your ears may tell you differently, so audition if you can. $350 elites with built in ATMOS could definitely be better for HT especially if they bounce off your ceilings properly (big if). BS22 version isn't as good, but if ATMOS is your thing...

How are these versus the Sony Cores/Pioneer AJ speakers for movies? It's definitely more expensive but not outrageously so.
