Please don't shock your dogs. Look up photos of shock collar burns. Work on positive reinforcement training, not punishment. If you buy this, crank up to 9 and try on yourself first.
First of all, this is a tiered incentive to stop hard headed dogs from barking. You don't have to turn it up to max shock to get your point across, and they are effective took without spending thousands on training that may or may not work. Positive reinforcement works sometimes, and sometimes it doesn't. There is no fool proof way to keep a dog from barking. What the "shock collar" does, is it provides 2 alerts to get your dog from barking that are non-shock solutions. First, an audible alert so the dog knows it's coming. Second is the vibration alert if he refuses to stop from the audible alarm. Then, if he continues, a brief shock set to the lowest level that your dog responds to. Some dogs don't even care they get shocked, and that's when bad owners will just hold down the shock button and do some physical damage on max settings. That is not the correct way to use the training tool. Please get off your high and mighty horse. Communication with animals does not come in a single pre-canned method. And using a training collar is merely one method of training with stubborn dogs. Source: family of veterinarians, dog trainers, and horse trainers.

Please do not lump together some dude with a crazy uncontrollable large aggressive breed dog who just turns a shock collar up to max and hold the button down while yanking on reverse prong collar (yes double collared) with people who use a multi level training collar appropriately.

There is a purpose for electric collars. Know what you are doing before you hurt and break your dog.

Again there is a purpose and positive reinforcement is great but there has to be an opposite also.
